Jaromir Jagr ties Gordie Howe for 3rd in all-time points

The legend grows.

With an assist in Thursday's game against the Colorado Avalanche, Jaromir Jagr of the Florida Panthers has tied Gordie Howe for third on the NHL's all-time points list with 1,850.

Jagr drew the secondary helper on defenseman Erik Gudbranson's goal. The assist gave Jagr 1,107 assists to go along with 743 goals.

The milestone point comes in Jagr's 1,611th career game.

Ducks’ Getzlaf out with lower-body injury vs. Coyotes

If the Anaheim Ducks match a franchise record with a 10th consecutive win Thursday, it will be without Ryan Getzlaf.

The Ducks announced that their captain is dealing with a lower-body injury and will not play.

The hope is for him to be fit for Saturday's clash with the Los Angeles Kings.

VIDEO: Maple Leafs prospect Marner uses between-the-legs drop pass on breakaway

The Toronto Maple Leafs are playing the kids, but one of them remains in junior - and continues to show off.

Check out the cheeky drop pass Mitch Marner - drafted fourth overall by Toronto last year - gave Christian Dvorak while on a breakaway.

What the heck's a goalie to do?

Marner was named the OHL's player of the month for February, after putting up an absurd 28 points in 12 games. He came into Thursday's game with 101 points in 48 games on the season.

VIDEO: Sabres’ Foligno burns Flames shorthanded

Marcus Foligno of the Buffalo Sabres scored one to remember against the Calgary Flames on Thursday, dropping a devastating move on T.J. Brodie before roofing the puck over Jonas Hiller.

The goal was Foligno's eighth of the season, and first while his team was shorthanded.

VIDEO: Taylor Hall scores with quick forehand move, then crashes violently

Another Edmonton Oilers star has slammed shoulder-first into the boards at full steam in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The upshot, this time, was far less season-derailing.

In a moment that was oh so Taylor Hall, the Oilers winger raced away from Shayne Gostisbehere and beat Michal Neuvirth with a quick forehand deke before tripping over a stick and crashing violently into the boards.

He initially looked a little shaken up, but then fired an arm up in celebration.

VIDEO: Lundqvist melts down, gets penalty for launching net off pegs

Whether it's unrelenting fury or onset shame, Henrik Lundqvist will be red-faced in the locker room Thursday night.

The New York Rangers netminder was penalized for rather hilariously firing his net off the moorings in protest after being run over by a back-checking teammate defending a transition rush from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

It appeared as though Lundqvist was favoring his arm or shoulder, but that didn't stop him from sending an 80-plus-pound net airborne. Or remaining in the game, for that matter.

NHL confirms year of Drouin’s contract burned after Lightning suspension

A full year of Jonathan Drouin's entry-level contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning will be burned even if he remains on the sidelines for the remainder of the season, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly confirmed to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet.

The Lightning may have been looking to toll the contract, meaning push it back a year in light of the circumstances, but that's not possible, says Daly.

"We haven’t previously had a practice of allowing clubs to toll partial season breaches," Daly told Johnston on Thursday in an email. "Had this been the last season of the contract, however, we may have entertained an argument for ‎some form of remedy or relief in this situation."

What this means is that any team that trades for Drouin will add him to the roster with one year left on the cap-friendly rookie deal.

The 20-year-old is currently suspended without pay after walking out on the AHL's Syracuse Crunch while awaiting a trade.

General manager Steve Yzerman maintains the door is open if Drouin wants to return to the organization for the balance of the season.

VIDEO: Rangers’ McIlrath throws kamikaze hit at Penguins’ Kuhnhackl

Something tells us that Dylan McIlrath popped "Don Cherry's Rock'Em, Sock'Em Hockey" into his VHS player after his nap Thursday afternoon.

The New York Rangers defender was somewhat surly on his first shift versus the Pittsburgh Penguins, as evidenced by the car crash he initiated in front of his bench.

That's Tom Kuhnhackl beneath the carnage, by the way.

VIDEO: Bruins’ Bergeron scores right after falling into boards

Patrice Bergeron simply can't stop protecting the puck.

The Boston Bruins center and three-time Selke Award winner not only managed to hold on to it after crashing into the end boards, he opened the scoring in Thursday's game seconds later by roofing it over Scott Darling of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Bergeron now has 25 goals on the season.
