Watch: Getzlaf pinballs late winner off Bouma’s skate

Just how the Anaheim Ducks drew it up.

Ryan Getzlaf got credit for the eventual winning goal in Game 2 after his cross-ice pass attempt took a wild bounce off Calgary Flames center Lance Bouma's skate and in to give the Ducks a 3-2 lead with under five minutes to go.

The Ducks took a 2-0 series lead over the Flames, with Game 3 scheduled for Monday night in Calgary.

Brian Boyle just couldn't help himself.

The Toronto Maple Leafs forward had some fun with some Washington Capitals fans who appeared to say something to the gaggle of Leafs players celebrating Kasperi Kapanen's double-overtime winner Saturday night.

After the game, Boyle said his response was lighthearted.

"They're giving it to us, so (I was) giving it back to them a little bit, but (it was) all in good fun," Boyle told reporters, according to TSN's Mark Masters.

The Leafs got the last laugh Saturday night, stealing home ice from the Capitals and evening their first-round playoff series with Game 3 set for Monday night in Toronto.

Watch: Flames’ Monahan finishes off pretty tic-tac-toe passing play

That's how it's done.

Sean Monahan capped off an impressively executed passing sequence with teammates Johnny Gaudreau and T.J. Brodie to draw the Calgary Flames even at 2-2 with the Anaheim Ducks in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series Saturday night.

Monahan's power-play tally came about seven minutes into the second period, and it was his second goal of the postseason.

Polak out for season with injury suffered after Orpik hit

Roman Polak won't play again until the fall.

will miss the rest of the postseason as a result of the injury he sustained after being hit by Washington Capitals blue-liner Brooks Orpik on Saturday night.

Leafs head coach Mike Babcock confirmed the recovery timetable postgame, according to TSN's Mark Masters.

Kasperi Kapanen's second goal of the night was an enormous one.

The Toronto Maple Leafs forward ended a marathon Game 2 against the Washington Capitals in the second overtime period, slipping one past Braden Holtby after a great backhand pass by Brian Boyle to give the Leafs a 4-3 victory.

Toronto tied the series at one game apiece and stole home-ice advantage away from the Presidents' Trophy winners, with Game 3 scheduled for Monday night at Air Canada Centre.

Kapanen's first playoff goal evened the contest midway through the second period.

Watch: Blackhawks’ Hartman catches Predators’ Smith with cross-check to face

Ryan Hartman was the embodiment of Chicago's frustration near the end of Game 2.

The Blackhawks rookie forward sent Craig Smith of the Nashville Predators to the ice with a hard check, then proceeded to cross-check him in the face for good measure.

Hartman was assessed a penalty for roughing and a 10-minute misconduct, and could very well be hearing from the NHL's Department of Player Safety, especially after Columbus' Matt Calvert was suspended after a similar incident in another lopsided loss.

Rinne shuts out Blackhawks for 2nd straight game

Another playoff game, another Pekka Rinne clean sheet.

The veteran goaltender kept the Chicago Blackhawks off the board for the second time in as many games as the Nashville Predators earned a 5-0 victory and took a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series Saturday night.

Rinne made 30 saves in the contest after holding the Blackhawks scoreless with 29 stops in Game 1 on Thursday night.

Watch: Capitals’ Backstrom sends Game 2 to OT with 3rd-period strike

Two games, two overtimes.

The Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs were fit to be tied once again, as Nicklas Backstrom banged the puck past Frederik Andersen to tie the score at three apiece with 7:21 remaining in the third period.

The goal was Backstrom's first of the playoffs, rendering him understandably excited.

Harry Zolnierczyk has his first career NHL playoff goal.

The Nashville Predators winger unlocked that achievement on a breakaway opportunity in Game 2 against the Chicago Blackhawks, beating Corey Crawford with a clean wrist shot to the top corner.

Zolnierczyk, 29, has spent most of his career in the AHL, and was playing in only his second career playoff game.

Goaltender Pekka Rinne drew the secondary assist on the play.

Watch: Komarov, Williams engage in pre-faceoff shenanigans

Gamesmanship at its finest.

Prior to a faceoff during Game 2 in Washington, Toronto Maple Leafs winger Leo Komarov lifted the stick of Justin Williams, prompting the Capitals forward to retaliate with a little helmet play.

We're not sure who gained the edge here, but it was highly entertaining.
