Report: Detroit ‘showing interest’ in Alexander Radulov

Alexander Radulov's quest back to the NHL continues to be a wild ride.

After failing to find a team to meet his asking price, Radulov reportedly signed with Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL, but, according to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun, the Detroit Red Wings are interested in the Russian forward.

Radulov was seeking a two-year, $15-million deal, but LeBrun reported the Red Wings offered the 29-year-old a one-year deal worth $5 million.

Since his most recent stint with the Nashville Predators went sour in 2012, the 29-year-old has played in the KHL, scoring 238 points in 181 games.

There's also unconfirmed speculation that the Montreal Canadiens are bidding for Radulov's services.

Report: Blues looking to bring back Perron

The St. Louis Blues might take a second chance on one of their former first-round picks.

The club is looking to bring back forward David Perron, according to Michael Russo of the Star Tribune.

Perron started last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he mustered just four goals and 16 points in 43 games before being dealt to the Anaheim Ducks, where he exploded for 20 points in 28 games.

The 28-year-old - who will become an unrestricted free agent at noon Friday - began his career with the Blues after being drafted 26th overall by the club in 2007. He amassed 84 goals and 198 points in 340 games during his tenure with the club.

Report: Red Wings sign Helm to 5-year, $19.25M extension

Before dipping into the free-agent market, the Detroit Red Wings brought back one of the longest-tenured players on their roster, re-signing forward Darren Helm to a five-year extension with an AAV of $3.85 million, as first reported by Aaron Ward.

With $18 million in cap space, it's widely expected the Red Wings are willing to spend money on a top-six forward as well, but securing Helm solidifies a spot in the bottom portion of the lineup.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, Helm had several interested suitors, but opted to stick with the team that drafted him back in 2005.

Helm, 29, played in 77 games last season, collecting 13 goals and 13 assists.

Report: Oilers to offer Lucic 7-year contract worth at least $42M

Milan Lucic is reportedly about to get paid.

The unrestricted free agent is expected to receive a seven-year contract offer worth at least $42 million from the Edmonton Oilers when the signing period opens at 12 pm EST on Friday, according to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet.

Lucic traveled to Edmonton to meet with Oilers brass earlier in the week, and is also believed to have sat down with representatives from the Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Stars.

The 28-year-old winger, who's coming off a three-year, $18-million deal signed with the Boston Bruins, recorded 20 goals and 55 points with the Los Angeles Kings this past season.

Islanders officially under new majority ownership

The New York Islanders have new faces atop the organization.

Jonathan Ledecky and Scott Malkin, whose purchase of the club was approved back in 2014, have officially assumed majority ownership over the Islanders, with former owner Charles Wang retaining a minority stake.

The pair of new owners take over at the beginning of the NHL free agent signing period, with both Kyle Okposo and Frans Nielsen potentially leaving the club for better offers on the open market.

Bruins’ Khokhlachev signs with KHL St. Petersburg

Alex Khokhlachev is heading back to Russia.

The Boston Bruins prospect, who was selected 40th overall at the 2011 NHL Draft, has signed a two-year deal with the KHL club St. Petersburg, the club announced Friday.

Khokhlachev averaged 0.87 points per game in 197 appearances at the AHL level since 2013, but was only afforded nine games with the Bruins in that time.

Prior to the start of training camp this past season, Khokhlachev expressed his frustration over not getting playing time in Boston, saying, "If they don't give me the chance to play, why am I here?"

The Bruins will retain the restricted free agent's rights should he decide to return to the NHL in the future.

Marleau family adopted Jo Pawvelski

The San Jose Sharks' black cat was taken in by one of their own.

Patrick Marleau's wife, Christina, revealed Thursday night that the couple adopted Jo Pawvelski last month.

She also confirmed that it is indeed the same cat that ran on the ice before a playoff game against the Nashville Predators.

The Sharks announced last month that they had found the feline a good home, but didn't reveal who had taken her in.

Report: Panthers out of Okposo sweepstakes

The Florida Panthers are hoping to add a scoring forward this offseason, but it appears they've already lost out on one of the best free agents available.

The team is reportedly out of the running to sign the soon-to-be-former New York Islanders winger, sources told George Richards of the Miami Herald. When asked if the team would make a big splash in free agency, Richards said the team had "two forwards in the works."

The Winnipeg Jets, St. Louis Blues, and Detroit Red Wings are among the teams reported to have interest in the 28-year-old's services. Last season, he recorded 22 goals and 42 assists in 64 games.

So far this offseason, the Panthers have worked to shore up their defense corps by signing Keith Yandle and Aaron Ekblad to long-term contracts, and trading Dmitry Kulikov to the Buffalo Sabres for Mark Pysyk.

Report: Panthers, Ekblad agree on 8-year, $60M extension

On the eve of free agency, the Florida Panthers reportedly came to terms with one of their franchise cornerstones.

Defenseman Aaron Ekblad has agreed to an eight-year, $60-million contract extension, George Richards of the Miami Herald reported late Thursday, citing a source.

He hasn't officially signed, but Richards expects Ekblad to put pen to paper soon.

Ekblad is under contract for one more season - the final year of his entry-level contract - before his new deal kicks in.

The two sides were preparing to sign off on the eight-year pact last Friday, when Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman first reported the terms of the deal.

Ekblad ranked second on the Panthers in average time on ice this season, logging 21:41. The 20-year-old posted 36 points in 78 regular-season games.

He won the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie in 2015, collecting 39 points and appearing in 81 contests.
