Florida Panthers Assign Jesse Puljujarvi To Charlotte
The Florida Panthers have assigned forward Jesse Puljujarvi to the Charlotte Checkers, it was announced Friday.
Puljujarvi, who joined the Panthers organization midway through the season, has seen time in both the NHL and AHL this year. In 31 NHL games with the Panthers and Pittsburgh Penguins, he scored four goals and added six assists for 10 points. Across 26 AHL games with Charlotte and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he put up six goals and 16 points.
Drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the first round of the 2016 NHL Draft, Puljujarvi has played in a total of 387 career NHL regular season games with the Panthers, Penguins, Oilers and the Carolina Hurricanes. In that span, he has collected 58 goals and 70 assists for 128 points.
With Puljujarvi being assigned to the AHL, he will have an opportunity to play a big role for the Checkers as they look to make a run to the Calder Cup. Still a capable depth player on an NHL roster, Puljujarvi has not been able to secure a full-time role over the last couple of seasons but could see another team take a swing at him during the offseason.
Windsor Spitfires Forwards Liam Greentree, Ilya Protas, and AJ Spellacy Recalled To AHL
Windsor Spitfires forwards Liam Greentree, AJ Spellacy, and Ilya Protas are headed to the AHL after the Spitfires were eliminated in the second round of the OHL playoffs.
Greentree will join the Ontario Reign, Spellacy the Rockford IceHogs, and Protas the two-time defending Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears.
Protas was second in OHL scoring and led the Spitfires in goals (50) and points (124) in 61 games this season before adding five goals and 20 assists in 12 playoff games.
A third round selection of the Capitals in 2024, Ilya is the younger brother of Washington forward Alexei Protas.
Spellacy notched 18 goals and 37 points in 62 games this season and three points in five playoff games before suffering an injury.
The 19-year-old was a third round selection of the Blackhawks in 2024.
Greentree recorded 49 goals and 119 points in 64 games this season, finishing third in OHL scoring. He had 14 goals and 24 points in 11 playoff games.
The captain of the Spitfires for the last two seasons, Greentree was selected 26th overall by the Kings in the 2024 draft.

The Reign are down 1-0 and the IceHogs are up 1-0 in their respective best-of-three first round matchups while the Bears have a bye into the Atlantic Division Semifinals.
It remains to be seen how much of an impact each player will have in the Calder Cup playoffs but given their great combination of size and skill it would not be surprising to see Greentree and Protas play meaningful minutes. Spellacy will be an interesting decision given the injury he dealt with throughout the OHL playoffs.

Providence Bruins' Michael DiPietro Wins Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award
Providence Bruins goaltender Michael DiPietro has been awarded the Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award, it was announced Wednesday.
The award, voted on by coaches, players and media representing all 32 cities across the AHL, is given annually to the AHL's most outstanding goaltender.
Drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the third round of the 2017 NHL Draft, DiPietro is in third season with the Bruins, having posted a record of 26-8-7 to go along with a 2.05 GAA and a .927 SP in 40 appearances this year. Those numbers placed him second in the AHL in wins and save percentage while putting him third in goals against average.
Across 145 career AHL regular season games with the Bruins, Utica Comets and the Abbotsford Canucks, DiPietro has posted a statline of 84-42-15, a 2.54 GAA and a .914 SP. He has also made three career NHL appearances, going 0-2-0 along with a 5.28 GAA and a .771 SP.
Prior to making the jump to the pro game, DiPietro spent parts of four seasons in the OHL with the Windsor Spitfires and the Ottawa 67's.
With DiPietro being given this award, it only further solidifies him as the best goalie in the AHL. His play throughout the season was a major factor for Providence's success and he has the chance to be a difference maker for them as they get set for their Calder Cup playoff journey.
Minnesota Wild Recall Devin Shore From Iowa
The Minnesota Wild have recalled forward Devin Shore from the Iowa Wild, it was announced Sunday.
Shore, who is in his first season with the Wild organization, has split time this year between the NHL and AHL. In 55 games with Minnesota, Shore has scored one goal and added four assists for five points while collecting two goals and 10 points in 15 games with Iowa.
Drafted by the Dallas Stars in the second round of the 2012 NHL Draft, Shore has played in 498 career NHL games with the Stars, Wild, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers and the Seattle Kraken. Across that time, Shore has put up 52 goals and 92 assists for 144 points.
With Shore being recalled to the Wild, he could potentially draw into the lineup for the Wild at some point in the series if things aren't going their way. While Shore only has four career NHL playoff games under his belt, the Wild know what they are getting with him and could put him into the lineup if they are in need of an energy boost.
Toronto Maple Leafs Recall Ryan Reaves From Toronto Marlies
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced they have recalled forward Ryan Reaves from their AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies.
Reaves was placed on waivers and sent to the AHL prior to the NHL Trade Deadline in order for the Maple Leafs to accrue more cap space.
The 38-year-old has two assists and 28 penalty minutes in 35 games for the Maple Leafs this season. He scored his first AHL goal since 2010 in this three-game stint with the Marlies.
The Winnipeg, Man., native has amassed 63 goals, 137 points, and 1100 penalty minutes in 912 career NHL games. He notched one assist in five playoff games for the Maple Leafs last season.
There are no NHL roster or cap limits during the playoffs so this recall likely means Reaves will at least be around the team for the postseason. There have been no updates on whether or not he will play, he did participate in Toronto's optional skate earlier today.
Keep an eye on The Hockey News' Toronto Maple Leafs team site for more roster updates prior to their playoff matchup against the Ottawa Senators.

- Forward ― Bradly Nadeau, Chicago Wolves (63 GP, 30-26-56, 8 PPG, 7 GWG)

Koivunen is third in AHL rookie scoring and his offensive ability has immediately come through for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He has five assists in seven NHL games this season. A second round pick of the Hurricanes in 2021, he was acquired by Pittsburgh in the trade that sent Jake Guentzel to Carolina.
Hryckowian leads all rookies in scoring in what is his first full pro season. He has one point in five NHL games this season. He was signed as a free agent by the Dallas Stars in 2024 after three seasons at Northeastern University.
Cagnoni was a fourth round pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2023 and has been dominant offensively in his rookie season, sitting fourth in scoring by AHL defensemen this season. He recorded two assists in six NHL games this season.
Luneau is fifth in scoring amongst AHL defensemen this season after missing most of what was intended to be his rookie year last season due to injury. A second round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in 2022, Luneau won QMJHL Rookie of the Year in 2021 and Defenseman of the Year in 2023. He is pointless in six NHL appearances this season.
Kokko has stepped up admirably for Coachella Valley this season as they look to make their third straight Calder Cup Final. A second round pick of the Seattle Kraken in 2022, he made his NHL debut earlier this season.

Minnesota Wild Assign Cameron Crotty To Iowa
The Minnesota Wild have assigned defenseman Cameron Crotty to the Iowa Wild, it was announced Sunday.
Crotty, a 2017 third round pick of the Arizona Coyotes, appeared in one game with Minnesota during his recall but did not register a point. In 62 games as captain of Iowa this year, Crotty has registered 10 assists.
Having made his NHL debut last season with the Coyotes, Crotty has appeared in two career NHL games, having not yet registered a point. Playing in 281 AHL regular season games across five seasons with the Wild and the Tucson Roadrunners, he has scored nine goals and added 40 assists for 49 points.
Still just 25, Crotty has emerged as an important depth piece for the Wild organization, both for his leadership and impact on the defensive side of the puck. Although his contract is set to expire at the end of this season, Crotty should draw interest for other teams if he doesn't extend his contract with Minnesota.
