Red Wings recall Mantha after shutout loss to Maple Leafs

A shutout loss to this season's Toronto Maple Leafs will make you rethink some things.

That appears to be the case in Detroit, at least, as the reeling Red Wings have recalled prized prospect Anthony Mantha from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins in advance of Tuesday's huge game against Philadelphia, in which he's expected to play.

The 20th overall pick in 2013 has 36 goals and 42 assists in 118 AHL games. He also averaged a goal per game through 81 regular-season and playoff games in his last year of junior hockey.

Tuesday's game against a Flyers team nipping at Detroit's ankles in the standings will mark Mantha's NHL debut.
