Report: Rangers sign Michigan’s Cristoval Nieves to 2-year contract

The New York Rangers have agreed to terms with University of Michigan forward Cristoval "Boo" Nieves on a two-year, entry-level contract, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.

The 22-year-old is coming off his senior year, in which he finished with a career high 10 goals and 31 points in 35 games.

Nieves - who was drafted by the Rangers in the second round in 2012 - could have elected to become a free agent on Aug. 15, according to McKenzie, but elected to sign with the team,

Nieves will report to the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, on an amateur tryout, with his contract kicking in at the start of next season.
