Report: U.S. expected to name Devils’ Hynes head coach at worlds

The Americans are turning to the Devil - New Jersey Devils head coach John Hynes, that is.

Hynes is expected to be named head coach of the American squad at the upcoming World Championship, according to USA Today's Kevin Allen.

The tournament takes place May 6-22 in Russia.

Hynes is a known commodity to USA Hockey, writes Allen, as he was head coach of the national team's development program from 2003-09.

The Devils are 37-36-8 in Hynes' first season behind the bench, and will not take part in the playoffs.
