Klefboms in bunches.

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Oscar Klefbom scored with a blast from inside the circle in the first period Monday night versus the Chicago Blackhawks, in the process extending his goal scoring streak to three games.

A couple of shifts later, Klefbom wheeled into a shooting lane on the power play and snapped a shot that took a touch off Leon Draisaitl to cash his second point of the night.

Klefbom's recent offensive wave comes after a frustrating start for the 23-year-old defender, who the Oilers were counting on to anchor their specialty teams in the absence of a prototypical power-play specialist.

He remains without the puck-moving capability and creativity from the top of the umbrella that the Oilers need to maximize the amount of talent they can throw out in mismatched scenarios. Because a team with Connor McDavid, Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Draisaitl simply should not own a below-average scoring rate on the man advantage.

But, with a power shot and precision, Klefbom has shown in recent games that he may have the ability to be a solid No. 2 option in that role.
