Report: Ducks claim J.T. Brown off waivers from Lightning

J.T. Brown is reportedly headed to a new organization.

The Anaheim Ducks claimed the forward off waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Brown was waived by the Lightning on Saturday, and general manager Steve Yzerman said shortly thereafter he was planning to send Brown down to the AHL's Syracuse Crunch if he went unclaimed.

The 27-year-old right winger was made a healthy scratch multiple times in 2017-18, posted only four points in 24 games, and averaged fewer than 10 minutes of ice time.

He became the first NHL player to peacefully protest racial injustice and police brutality this season when he stood with a raised fist during the U.S. national anthem before a game in early October.
