Coyotes land Kuemper from Kings, reportedly sign him to 2-year extension

The Los Angeles Kings have traded backup goaltender Darcy Kuemper to the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday for forward Tobias Rieder and netminder Scott Wedgewood.

Arizona has subsequently signed Kuemper to a two-year, $3.7-million contract extension, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.

The Coyotes are retaining 15 percent of Rieder's salary in the trade, according to McKenzie. The German winger is a pending restricted free agent carrying a cap hit of $2.225 million.

Wedgewood has a cap hit of $650,000, and he's also a pending RFA.
