Penguins sign Hornqvist to 5-year extension

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Patric Hornqvist to a five-year contract extension worth $5.3 million per season, the team announced Tuesday.

The two-time Stanley Cup winner has recorded 32 points through 51 games this season, good for seventh place in team scoring.

The Penguins acquired Hornqvist from the Nashville Predators in 2014 in exchange for forward James Neal.

The 31-year-old was a seventh-round draft choice by the Predators in 2005.
