Boudreau botches Wild’s lineup, leaves Pateryn as healthy scratch

The Minnesota Wild were left with just five active defensemen against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday after head coach Bruce Boudreau accidentally listed Greg Pateryn as a healthy scratch.

Pateryn, who was expecting to play, was forced to leave the Wild's bench by the officiating crew ahead of puck drop. The veteran blue-liner made his season debut Sunday after missing 44 games following core muscle surgery.

Minnesota forward Ryan Donato was unintentionally inserted into the lineup in Pateryn's stead, and the 23-year-old winger had to make his way from the press box to the ice to join his teammates, according to the Star Tribune Sport's Sarah McLellan.

The Wild entered Tuesday's action on a three-game losing streak and have dropped five of their last six.
