Report: Ekblad to miss remainder of season with leg fracture

Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad will miss the remainder of the season with a left leg fracture, according to TSN's Frank Seravalli.

Ekblad will require surgery. He suffered the injury against the Dallas Stars on Sunday.

After taking a hit from Dallas defenseman Esa Lindell, Ekblad fell into the boards and landed awkwardly on his left leg.

The arena's medical staff applied an aircast to his leg before stretchering him off.

The former No. 1 overall pick was enjoying the best season of his career. He's currently tied for the league lead in goals among defensemen (11). Ekblad also collected 11 assists over 35 games.
