Ticket prices remain firm as Bruins inch closer to playoff spot

It’s been quite a week for the Boston Bruins, who have pulled ahead in the race for the second wild-card spot with just over a week remaining in the regular season. They’ll hope to get some help from the home crowd, too, as the B’s play four of their final five games at TD Garden.

And for fans looking to take in the final push towards a playoff spot, there are deals to be had on Bruins tickets through next Saturday.

On search engine TicketIQ, the average resale price for Bruins tickets over the team’s four remaining home games is $158. That’s on par with the season average of $160 across all 41 games at TD Garden, which indicates that no premium is being placed on the Bruins’ final homestand.

Tuesday’s game against the Lightning will be the cheapest remaining Bruins home game to attend this year. As it stands now the average resale price for tickets is $112 with a get-in price of just $45. The B’s welcome the Senators two days later in their second cheapest game, with tickets averaging $128 and starting from $55 each.

Should the Bruins still have ownership over the second wild-card slot come next Saturday, their matchup with the Capitals will be an early look into their first-round playoff series. Tickets to the game currently average $241, making it the Bruins' ninth most expensive game on average this season (a New Year’s Eve battle with the Sabres averaged a season-high $669 ticket). The cheapest available ticket is fetching for $90.

Expect prices to jump should the Bruins clinch a wild-card berth. Over three potential home games in the first round, Bruins playoff tickets are averaging $345 on TicketIQ. The team’s first home playoff game owns the cheapest tickets at $155 each. Additional savings on all Bruins games can be found on the TicketIQ app.

So long, Joe: A look at ticket prices for final Red Wings games at Joe Louis Arena

It’s the end of an era in Detroit, and Red Wings fans will be paying up as they bid farewell to Joe Louis Arena.

The beloved venue, which has hosted Red Wings home games since 1979, welcomes six more games through April 9. Over that time, Red Wings tickets won't be cheap on the resale market.

On TicketIQ, the average resale price for Red Wings tickets over those six games is $369. This is more than twice the team’s season average of $154. Take a look at where each game stacks up in terms of pricing below.

Fans looking for the cheapest Red Wings tickets can find them for Friday night’s contest against the Lightning. Also featuring a Wall Mural Magnet giveaway for the first 7,500 fans 21 and older, the game currently owns a $134 average and $89 get-in price. Additional savings can be found on the TicketIQ app.

Conversely, the final home game against the Devils on April 9 is the most expensive remaining game. All fans in attendance will receive a Farewell to the Joe Mini Stick. Tickets are posting a $591 average, making it the most expensive regular-season Red Wings game TicketIQ has ever tracked. Tickets start from $272 each.

With the team’s historic 25-year playoff streak coming to an end, the franchise will call Little Caesars Arena home beginning next season. The 20,000 capacity venue will also host Pistons games starting during the 2017-18 NBA season.

Rangers host Islanders in season’s cheapest remaining home game

Is the Rangers-Islanders rivalry waning? Judging by resale ticket demand for Wednesday’s game at Madison Square Garden, it appears so.

On TicketIQ, a search engine that pools data from over 90 percent of the resale market, the final regular-season meeting between the teams will be the cheapest of the four Rangers home games remaining this season.

As it stands now, the average price for Rangers vs. Islanders tickets at Madison Square Garden is $269. Following Wednesday’s game, the Rangers welcome the Flyers in between two games with the Penguins over the next two weeks. None of those three games averages below $300 on the resale market.

Fans looking for the cheapest tickets Wednesday can find them in Section 212 for $107 each. An April 2 matchup with the Flyers will be the second cheapest remaining game at MSG, with tickets starting from $115 each. Additional savings on tickets can be found by downloading the TicketIQ app.

The Rangers and Islanders have met in Midtown Manhattan 19 times since the 2010-11 season, when TicketIQ began tracking resale ticket data. Wednesday’s game will be the ninth most expensive matchup over that time, with a Jan. 13, 2015 meeting serving as the top-priced affair ($437 average/$163 get-in price).

The Rangers look to even their season series with the Islanders at two games apiece with a win Wednesday. The Islanders have won consecutive matchups against their crosstown rival, keeping the Rangers winless at Barclays Center since moving from Nassau County last season.

While the Rangers are poised to clinch the first wild-card spot, the Islanders will be playing meaningful hockey down the stretch. As of Tuesday night, they sit three points behind the Maple Leafs, who own the second wild card. There is little breathing room, too, as the Lightning and Flyers trail by one and three points, respectively.

Kings, Predators, Blues highlight West playoff push

The NHL playoff picture may not be as tight in the West as it is in the East, but several teams find themselves in the hunt with three weeks left to play. The Predators and Blues control the wild-card seeds entering play Friday, with the Kings trailing just four points behind for the second wild-card slot.

The road ahead will be difficult for the Kings, and fans will be paying up to see the team make its final push to the playoffs. On TicketIQ, Kings tickets are the most expensive among all three teams vying for a wild-card berth. With six home games remaining the team owns a $124 average. They’ll host the Blackhawks on April 8 in their most expensive remaining home game. That matchup owns a $247 average on the resale market.

Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena will be the second most expensive site among all three wild-card competitors in the West. The Predators will play six more home games with hopes of staying alive in the hunt, and Predators tickets on TicketIQ average $118 over that time. They’ll host the Wild in their top game on April 1 ($160 average) and the Flames in their cheapest game on March 23 ($67 average).

Blues fans will get the best bang for their buck over the six remaining games at Scottrade Center. As it stands now the average resale price for Blue tickets is just $94. Their relatively lax schedule may be causing that lack of ticket demand, however, as the Canucks, Flames, Coyotes, Jets and Avalanche will all travel to St. Louis over the next three weeks. Additional savings on tickets can be found by downloading the TicketIQ app.

Leafs, Isles, Bolts posting big resale ticket demand as East playoff push heats up

Less than a month remains in the NHL's regular season, and the playoff hunt is heating up for several teams on the bubble in the East.

With the Bruins owning a four-point cushion over the Maple Leafs for the first wild-card spot entering the weekend, the Leafs have little room for comfort with the Islanders and Lightning trailing just one point behind. The Flyers and Panthers remain alive at six and seven points back, respectively.

For fans looking to be on hand as each team makes its case for a playoff spot, the biggest demand for tickets exists in Toronto. On TicketIQ, Maple Leafs tickets are averaging nearly $300 for remaining games at Air Canada Centre. The Leafs will play their most expensive home game against the Penguins on April 8, where tickets average $465. A March 28 game with the Panthers is the cheapest at a $220 average.

The Islanders continued their see-sawing year on Thursday after dropping a pivotal game to the Jets at home. They'll play five more home games at Barclays Center this season and own the second most expensive prices among all bubble teams in the East. Islanders tickets at home currently average $102, with a March 25 game the most expensive at an average price of $135. A matchup with the Predators two days later is the cheapest remaining at a $72 average.

The Bolts have had a similar year of ups and downs, watching Steven Stamkos fall victim to a long-term injury and looking like a ghost of last year’s team that reached Game 7 of the Conference Finals. They remain on the cusp of the second wild-card spot, however, and tickets at Amalie Arena are averaging $100 through the end of the season. Notable games include a March 27 matchup with the Blackhawks ($176 average) and March 19 against the Hurricanes ($62 average). Additional savings can be found on the TicketIQ app.

Though on the outside looking in, the Flyers and Panthers still remain in the playoff conversation. The two teams are posting relatively cheap prices through the end of the season, with Flyers tickets averaging $88 and Panthers tickets at $77. The Panthers will play the 'Canes on March 21 in the cheapest game of all playoff-bubble teams with tickets averaging just $48.

Penguins, Flyers meet in second cheapest Stadium Series Game

Now may be the time to snag tickets to this weekend’s Stadium Series game at Heinz Field.

On TicketIQ, a search engine that pools ticket data from over 90 percent of the resale market, Penguins tickets against the Flyers are the second cheapest in Stadium Series history.

With the two teams meeting in the sole Stadium Series game this season, the average resale price for tickets is now $178. That makes slightly more expensive than a 2016 game between the Wild and Blackhawks at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, where tickets owned a record low $160 average.

For fans with interest in just getting past the gates at Heinz Field, the cheapest available tickets are currently fetching for $91 each in Section 507. The priciest tickets clock at $706 each in Section 211.

Saturday’s game marks Pittsburgh’s first outdoor game 2011’s Winter Classic, which was also held at Heinz Field. That game owned a $489 ticket average and $238 get-in price on TicketIQ. The Capitals would go on to defeat the Penguins, 3-1, in front of a crowd of 68,000.

The Flyers are set to play in their first outdoor game since 2012's Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park. They were defeated by the Rangers, 3-2, in Philadelphia’s first-ever outdoor game. That year Winter Classic tickets owned a $504 average and $284 asking price.
