Ducks trade Chris Wagner to Islanders for Jason Chimera

The New York Islanders dealt forward Jason Chimera to the Anaheim Ducks on Monday for winger Chris Wagner.

Report: Sabres trade Kane to Sharks for conditional 1st-rounder, prospect

The Buffalo Sabres have shipped winger Evander Kane to the San Jose Sharks, reports TSN's Bob McKenzie.

The return package heading Buffalo's way apparently includes a conditional 2019 first-round pick, a fourth-round pick in 2020, and forward prospect Dan O'Regan, according to Pierre LeBrun of TSN.

O'Regan, 24, played 19 games with the Sharks this season, notching four assists. In 31 AHL contests in 2017-18, he recorded 25 points. He's also familiar with superstar Jack Eichel, as the two were teammates at Boston University, notes Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News.

As a pending unrestricted free agent, Kane was one of the top targets on this year's trade board. The deal does not include a contract extension, however, McKenzie reports.

In 61 games this season, Kane has 40 points.

Report: Penguins, Maple Leafs inquired about McDonagh

The Pittsburgh Penguins have inquired about New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh, according to Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos.

However, The Athletic's Josh Yohe says the team isn't believed to be in on McDonagh.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have also inquired about the Rangers captain in recent days, but the asking price might be too high for the club, according to The Athletic's James Mirtle.

This development comes after it was reported the Maple Leafs weren't on McDonagh's no-trade list.

McDonagh has spent his entire eight-year career with the Rangers. The 28-year-old, who has put up 26 points in 49 games this season, still has one year remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $4.7 million.
